Join me online starting next Tuesday for the first part of a course offered by Veterum Sapientia Institute called “Latin for Musicians”. This course is designed especially for those who want to deepen their knowledge and appreciation of the Catholic Church’s sacred music, and will introduce the Latin grammar and vocabulary needed to understand the texts of the our musical patrimony. Students will study texts from the Vulgate, the Mass, and the Divine Office, with examples drawn from Gregorian chant and polyphony. By the end of the three-part course, students will be equipped to understand a substantial portion of the chant and polyphonic repertoire with the help of a dictionary.

PLEASE NOTE: VSI’s Latin for Musicians (part 1) is a 10-week course that will run in two 5 week installments, from October 20th - November 17th, and from January 12th - February 9th. The class will be held on Tuesdays at 7:00 PM Eastern time.
