Dominican Rite Announcements

Two brief items of interest.

First, I have now heard more about the Dominican Rite Mass that will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church, 5041 9th Avenue N.E., Seattle WA, at 7:30 p.m. this coming August 8, 2008. It will indeed be a Solemn Mass, not a Missa Cantata. The celebrant will be Fr. Daniel Syverstad, O.P., pastor and former provincial of the Western Dominican Province; the deacon will be Fr. Anthony Patalano, O.P., pastor of Holy Rosary Church, Portland OR. And yours truly will serve as subdeacon. The Propers of the Votive Mass of St. Dominic will be sung in Dominican Chant.

Second, at the request of some of my brother friars and others who wanted to be able to find my longer historical postings and commentaries on the Dominican Liturgy more easily, I have decided to create a "mirror" blog for them entitled "Domnican Liturgy." All the material placed on that blog will be published here first, and this will continue to be the place for announcements about up-coming events and Masses. I have included a good number of links on this new site for Dominican Rite resources, especially on-line liturgical books, found on the web--again to make them more easily available. The link to the new site is:

It has not been picked up by Google yet, but it should be within a couple of weeks, I understand. Nevertheless, those interested should probably save the link.
