As expected (cf. Rumour Watch: Motu Proprio on the Reorganisation of Ecclesia Dei), the Holy Father today appointed H.E. Archbishop Albert Malcom Ranjith Patabendige Don, until now Secretary of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, the new Archbishop of Colombo, Sri Lanka (Ceylon). Fr Joseph Augustine Di Noia OP, until now Undersecretary of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, was named new Secretary of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments. For an assessment of these appointments, cf. On the Movement of Archbishop Malcolm Ranjith. Archbishop Ranjith will thus be among the Metropolitans to receive the pallium form the hands of the Holy Father this coming Feast of Saints Peter and Paul.
