Corpus Christi 2009 in Rome

Some impressions from the Mass and procession on the feast of Corpus Christi celebrated by Pope Benedict in Rome:

The Holy Father is wearing a Roman chasuble - the same as for the Epiphany:

The introit Cibávit eos is sung:

The Most Holy Name is sung in the Gloria (note Pope Benedict's coat of arms on the backdrop, and St. Pius X's on the back of the throne):

The sequence Lauda Sion Salvatorem is sung:

The homily:

Here we see the arms of Paul VI on the chasuble:

The canon:

The altar:

Holy Communion:

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament:

The Sacrament is transferred to the vehicle for the procession:

The procession begins:

The procession has reached St. Mary Major. Adoration at the stational altar:

Veneremur cernui (from Pope Benedict's coat of arms on the cope we can infer that it is a new cope made for him. It is very lightweight, indubitably in view of the Pope's advanced age and the heat of the Roman summer):

The monstrance is given to the Holy Father...

...for the Eucharistic blessing:
