Gregorian Institute of Canada: News

The third Gregorian Institute of Canada Annual [Chant] Colloquium will be held from August 22nd to 24th, 2008, at the Benedictine Abbey of Saint-Benoît-du-Lac (QC).

The theme of this year's Colloquium will be the Centenary of the Vatican Edition of the Graduale Romanum (1908). Presenters will be Dom Richard Gagné, O.S.B., Choirmaster of SBL Abbey, Jean-Pierre Noiseux, and Antoine Ouellette, director of the Chœur Gregoria of Montreal. Workshops for all levels of singers will be offered.

In addition, two lectures will be given: J.P. Noiseux will make a survey of the History of the Vatican Edition, and A. Ouellette will give an overview of the evolution of Chant performance since 1904. On Saturday August 23rd, at 8 PM, there will a free concert at the beautifull Saint-Patrice Church of Magog (QC), featuring Una Voce Choir of Saguenay (dir. Raymond Laforge), the Gregorian Choir of Sherbrooke (dir. Yvan Cloutier), and the Schola Saint Grégoire of Montreal (dir. Jean-Pierre Noiseux), with the participation of Marc O'Reilly, organist. At Sunday Mass, participant will be invited to sing the offertory, and the Kyriale alterning with the monks.
