Tenebrae from the Benedictines of Norcia, Italy

Speaking of Tenebrae, some of our readers may also be interested in following Tenebrae from the Monastery of San Benedetto, Norcia, Italy.

Tenebrae 2009

Thanks to the generous gift of several friends of the monastery, we have the technology in place this year to bring you a digital audio recording of Tenebrae for each day of the Triduum through our web page. Our purpose is not to wow you with the technical skill of our chant (we are quite inexperienced!) but to offer you a chance to pray with us from wherever you are in the world. Those who are interested in details of liturgical books can find the music and text we are singing in the ORDO HEBDOMADAE SANCTAE, iuxta ritum monasticum, edition cum cantu gregoriano, cura et studio Monachorum Solesmensium, Desclee et Socii, 1957.

Wishing you all a most prayerful Triduum and an Easter filled with the joy of Christ’s victory!

Father Benedict Nivakoff, OSB
Subprior
Monastery of San Benedetto
Norcia, Italy
