Photos of a Missale Romanum Printed in Antwerp, 1616

As mentioned last week, my visit to Milwaukee gave me the opportunity to view several rare books in a friend's collection. Today I will share some photos of a Missale Romanum printed in Antwerp in 1616; brief commentary will be offered in the captions. Although not in order, let's begin with the Canon page:

The viewer will see wormholes present throughout.

The title page

First Sunday of Advent
The Order of Mass, starting with Psalm 42
The words of consecration.
A handsome graphic at the end of the missal.

Something one occasionally sees, a page on which the red text plate, printed separately from the black text plate, was misaligned, leading to unfortunately results.
At the end of the missal, the license and approbation of the local ordinary, basically, the nihil obstat and imprimatur.

The publisher and date.
The binding
