Blessed Ildefonso Cardinal Schuster

Since we are on a bit of an Ambrosian theme at this moment, I wished to share yet another image culled from the amazing Life archives. This one is of Blessed Ildefsono Cardinal Schuster, the saintly Cardinal Archbishop of Milan, and author of the seminal work, The Sacramentary: Historical and Liturgical Notes on the Roman Missal. (Actually, it was some Polish liturgical bloggers who have taken the NLM somewhat as a model of their own Polish blog who found it: Nowy Ruch Liturgiczny)

Here is the tomb of Blessed Schuster, placed within one of the side altars of the Duomo of Milan. I had the great privilege to pray before this tomb recently.

Since my visit to Milan, I have developed a love and appreciation of this Blessed and his liturgical work, not to mention St. Ambrose himself of course.

Pray for the canonization of Blessed Ildefonso Schuster.
