Divine Mercy Sunday and the Beatification of John Paul II

In the modern Roman calendar, today is Divine Mercy Sunday -- and it was today too that John Paul II was beatified. First, some images from the beatification (via Daylife).






Since we have seen some focus this weekend on the Royal Family in Britain, I should mention that various members of Continental European royalty and aristocracy where in attendance for the beatification. Here are a few.

In addition to those already mentioned above, here we also see Hans-Adam II, Prince of Liechtenstein to the very right and in white we see Maria Teresa, Grand Duchess of Luxembourg.

Both the Queen of Belgium and the Grand Duchess of Luxemburg made use of the privilege du blanc.
