Requiem Mass for Duke Humphrey at Blackfriars, Oxford

Yesterday, Saturday, February 20th, at 2:00 in the afternoon, the Duke Humphrey Society held its annual requiem Mass for the Duke of Gloucester at Blackfriars in Oxford.

Fr. Finigan gives a good summary of the Duke:

Duke Humphrey was the youngest son of King Henry IV, brother of Henry V and uncle to Henry VI. He was a patron of learning and of the arts, he enclosed Greenwich Park, and is remembered at Oxford where the Sir Thomas Bodley restored the library founded by Duke Humphrey in 1602, and added to it, creating the beginnings of the University's Bodleian Library.

The celebrant was Fr. Richard Ounsworth, OP, the deacon, Br. David Rocks, OP and the subdeacon, Br. Lawrence Lew OP.
