EWTN Anniversary

[It has often been asked, what good do liturgical conferences or the development of papers and books do for the average parish in the liturgy? Let's remember the parable of the mustard seed. EWTN is a good example of that.]

CNS NEWS BRIEFS Jul-11-2006: "EWTN anniversary celebration in Philadelphia draws 4,000

PHILADELPHIA (CNS) -- Father Richard John Neuhaus, a speaker at a Philadelphia celebration for the 25th anniversary of the Eternal Word Television Network, called the event a 'remarkable occasion' marking a milestone for 'a most improbable adventure.' The priest, who is editor of the monthly magazine First Things, called the founding of EWTN by Mother Angelica 'a high adventure,' and said the nun made herself 'a vessel of what God can do beyond our imagination.' The June 24-25 celebration drew more than 4,000 people from the Philadelphia region and from around the country to the Liacouras Center at Temple University. Other speakers included Father Benedict Groeschel, a Franciscan Friar of the Renewal, as well as Marcus Grodi, Raymond Arroyo and Scott Hahn. They all had audience members on their feet, asking questions and shouting answers to the speakers' questions. EWTN was started in the garage of a Birmingham, Ala., monastery 25 years ago by Mother Angelica, a Poor Clare of Perpetual Adoration."
