Assumption 2022 Photopost (Part 1)

Our Assumption photoposts for this year will include a few other things sent in by readers in recent days. As always, we thank everyone who contributed these pictures, contributing to the good work of evangelizing through beauty.

Bayou Teche, Louisiana
Each year, a Eucharistic Procession by boat down Bayou Teche, Louisiana, is held on the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Patroness of the Acadian people and of the Acadiana region. It marks the anniversary of the first arrival of French-Canadian immigrants who brought the Catholic faith to Acadiana after enduring great trials and suffering.
Church of the Assumption – Nashville, Tennessee
H.E. J. Mark Spalding, bishop of Nashville, preached and celebrated solemn Benediction, followed by a procession in which the Litany of Loreto was sung around the neighborhood to mark the end of the Assumption novena, and this church’s titular feast. (All ceremonies are still being done in a temporary chapel due to damage from a tornado in March 2020.)

St Aloysius – Thorold, Ontario
St Joseph – Raritan, New Jersey
Dominican Mass in honor of Bl Michael McGivney, the founder of the Knights of Columbus, celebrated on Saturday, August 13, followed by veneration of his first-class relic. The evening before, a holy hour vigil was held for those who wished to venerate the relic, but could not make the Mass, with Vespers and Benediction.
St Martha – Enfield, Connecticut
Betrothal ceremony: congratulations to Mt Stirling Roatch and his bride-to-be.
Our Lady of Mt Carmel – São João Del Rei, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Mass and Procession on the church’s titular feast.
