News from the Washington D.C. area

One of our readers passed along this bit of news:

"William Cardinal Baum, archbishop of Washington, D.C. from 1973-1980 and one of the oldest cardinals in American history, will be in choir tonight at 7:30 p.m. for a traditional Latin Missa Solemnis at Saint Bernadette church in Silver Spring, Md. This is an indulgenced church for the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. The professional choir Chantry will sing a Victoria Mass with Marian motets. Monsignor K. Bartholomew Smith, pastor and former priest-secretary to Cardinal Baum, will say the Mass, with Fr. Paul Scalia acting as deacon."
