Eastern Christian Supply Company

Anyone who is looking for a nice place to order church supplies of a more Eastern variety really needs to take a look at the Eastern Christian Supply Company.

Besides selling incense and various church or domestic-church items, and even a beautiful selection of ecclesiastical fabrics (those are the premium fabrics, see here and here as well), they have a nice selection of books and cd's as well.

What attracted my attention to this recently was a mailing on some new CD's they are offering:

Akathist to St. Seraphim of Sarov

This moving service is sung in the solemn and traditional style of Znamenny chant by the Moscow Churches’ Choir of Singers under the direction of Anatoly Kuleshov. Included with the compact disc is an attractive sixty-page booklet with the life of St. Seraphim of Sarov in Russian, the entire text of the service in Church Slavonic, and the life of St. Seraphim in English, and which features ten full-color illustrations.

The Athos of the North

Skillfully executed by the Monastic Choir of the Valaam Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Saviour, this CD features a variety of Church hymns, sung in Byzantine chant, Znamenny chant, Greek chant, and Kievan chant. The liner notes feature several photographs of Valaam, “‘The Northern Athos’ [which] has combined into one, two close traditions of the ‘Greek-Russian Orthodox Church’ (as St. Seraphim of Sarov called it).”
