Cardinal Alfons Maria Stickler

It is with sadness that I report this story:

Catholic Church Conservation: Cardinal Stickler, one of the all time great Cardinals has died

Cardinal Stickler was a great friend and advocate of the usus antiquior, or "extraordinary form" of the Roman liturgy, and is perhaps best known in North America for his Solemn Pontifical Mass offered in New York City's St. Patrick's Cathedral a few years back.

Cardinal Stickler was also active in his involvement in Solemn Pontifical liturgies in Rome, such as for the 10th anniversary celebrations of the former motu proprio, Ecclesia Dei adflicta.
