Images and a report from Chartres today

The French blog, La Salon Beige is reporting that there were "more than 10 000 people who attended the mass at Chartres terminating the 26th pilgrimage".

La Salon Beige also reports that the Bishop of Chartres, Msgr. Pansard, welcomed the pilgrims and attended the Mass in choro. Dom Louis-Marie, successor to the late Dom Gerard Calvet and Abbot of Le Barroux was also present today, as was the Abbot of the Canons Regular of the Mother of God.

The Mass was celebrated by Fr. Blignières, prior of the Fraternity of St. Vincent Ferrer, a French order based upon Dominican spirituality and which uses the Dominican rite.

Here are a few pictures from outside Chartres as the pilgrims approach the destination of the pilgrimage. More will come soon.

In related Chartres news, as was reported here last month, the regular celebration of the usus antiquior in the ancient and important church of St. Peter in Chartres began yesterday on the feast of Pentecost. It is reported that approximately 150 people were at the first Mass.

(The NLM will endeavour to bring you pictures. If any of our readership has pictures of this Mass or comes across them, please email me.)
