Sweet Georgia Chant

If you are anywhere near Woodstock, Georgia, this coming weekend, you should certainly register for this chant conference (two bloggers here are leading the event).

By the way, Arlene Oost-Zinner gave a great talk this morning at our parish, in which she discussed the history and development of the sung parts of the Mass. It is a good thing that people gain some understanding of what it is that goes on in Mass week to week--the difference between propers and ordinary parts, why we sing what we sing, when and how the sung parts came about, etc.
