Liturgy Conference Season begins

I have only recently noticed that the Society for Catholic Liturgy has announced their next conference will take place at St. Cecilia Cathedral in Omaha, Nebraska from January 29-Feb. 1st, 2009. The topic is "Missale Romanum".

While we are on the topic of conferences, we are now entering the season of liturgical conferences -- summer and autumn seem to be the predominant time for these events.

These events are good to attend, not only for the evident reasons of the benefit to be found in the papers and liturgies (the first and most primary aspects to these events of course), but also for their ability to introduce like-minded individuals.

(Two images from the excellent CIEL conference in Merton College, Oxford in the Autumn of 2006. It was an excellent conference that excelled in all aspects. The first image shows some of the fraternizing the occurs outside of the official aspects of a conference event.)

This networking is helpful to the cause of re-enchanting the sacred liturgy, for more often than not, it can result in additional initiatives or mutual cooperation that otherwise may have not happened, or at least have taken far longer to accomplish in different circumstances. It also provides a venue to further discuss the themes of the papers and the liturgy itself.

I try to attend at least one or two liturgy conferences per year -- and, conference organizers, I am always happy to attend or participate in more if arrangements can be made.

A reminder that the NLM has upcoming conferences located in its "Forthcoming Events" section of the sidebar. On that topic, a quick review of what is coming up event wise in the coming months:
