Can Chant Heal Us?

I've never been too interested in this "healing power of chant" stuff, mostly because it seems too new agey or something, but there must be a truth to it in some way. If the mere sound of chant draws people to a tradition and to prayer and to truth, that's all to the good. In chant we do find unity between art and truth, ordered phrases of that connect with our highest longings, and surely music perfect enough for Mass has other benefits besides purely spiritual ones. This piece discusses a case in point, and also advertises a chant performance by Florida Pro Musica at the 4 p.m., Dec. 14, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 509 Florida Ave., Tampa.
