High in the Duomo of Milan, a relic of the Passion

Quite by coincidence, one of our readers sent in this link a few days ago, about a unique custom in the Duomo of Milan. If one looks high in the ceiling of the apse of the Duomo, one will notice a vigil light burning. Up there is located a relic of the Passion, one of the nails from the crucifixion.

This relic was placed there in order to protect it from theft and a device was created in order to retrieve this relic. Some attribute this to Leonardo da Vinci.
