The Restoration of a High Altar -- and more importantly: Ad Orientem

The NLM recently noted that it would like to hear of stories, not only of the adoption of the Benedictine arrangement of the altar with a central altar cross and six candlesticks, but as well, of the restoration of ad orientem in parish settings.

Fr. Rob Johansen of Thrown Back has kindly obliged with news of the restoration of their parish high altar as well as one of the side altars.

The good news is not only that they have been restored and are due to be unveiled this weekend, the high altar will also be used this coming weekend and next.

Here's hoping that ad orientem will see even more regular use in the coming year at this and other parishes. Duc in altum!
