Feast of St. Charles Borromeo

Having such a personal interest in the Ambrosian rite, and having had the opportunity to pray before the tomb of St. Charles Borromeo, I could not let today pass without a quick mention of this saint.

Beneath the high altar of the Duomo of Milan, entered into by way of the private chapel of the canons is found this small space, wherein is found an altar, and the tomb of St. Charles Borromeo:




Here, from the book of Mass chants for the Ambrosian rite (the Antiphonale Missarum juxta ritum Sanctae Ecclesiae Mediolanensis), are the opening lines of the Ingressa (i.e. "Introit" in Roman terms) of the feast of this great Cardinal Archbishop of Milan:
