Remembrance Sunday at the Birmingham Oratory

In the United Kingdom, yesterday was Remembrance Sunday when the war dead are remembered. (In Canada and various other countries of the Commonwealth, there is "Remembrance Day" which is observed on the 11th of November itself, commemorating the end of the First World War).

Jackie Parkes sent to the NLM news from the Birmingham Oratory where they observed Remembrance Sunday with a Mass for the Dead in the modern Roman Liturgy -- a custom in the U.K. I am informed.

Music for the Mass included chant and polyphony by Giovanni Francesco Anerio (1567-1630), Palestrina and Beethoven. The following video will give you some sense of the music at the Oratory -- so typical of the English Oratories generally. (Visit Jackie Parkes site for more.)
