Dominican Rite Requiem Mass, Portland, Oregon

I would like to take this opportunity to let all of you in the Portland, Oregon, area know of an upcoming opportunity to attend a Dominican Rite Requiem Mass for All Souls Day. It will be followed immediately by the Absolution of the Dead (Libera) at the Catafalque, also according to the Dominican Rite. The notice appears at http://www.rdrop.com/~jamesb/cantores/schedule.pdf, the site of the well-known choir, Cantores in Ecclesia, who will be singing the Mass under the direction of Dean Applegate:

ON ALL SOULS DAY, Friday, November 2, at 7:30 p.m., in Holy Rosary Church [375 N.E. Clackamas Street, Portland OR 97232], Cantores in Ecclesia will sing: Maurice Duruflé's Requiem, accompanied by Douglas Schneider. The Liturgy of the Commemoration of the Faithful Departed will be celebrated according to the Dominican Rite. Several Gregorian pieces will also be sung including the Sequence Dies irae, dies illa.

This celebration, like all other celebrations of the traditional Dominican Rite at Holy Rosary Church, is done with the permission of the provincial of the Western Province in accord with the authority granted him by the S.C.R. Rescript "Pro Cultu Divino" (2 June 1969). I hope that those who attend introduce themselves to Fr. Anthony Patalano, O.P., the pastor and celebrant. Menton N.L.M., of which he is a reader, and give him my best greetings (he approved this announcement).
