Upcoming Alcuin Reid talk: reminder

I just wanted to remind all of this upcoming event, on Sunday, June 4th. It's a rare opportunity for those in North America to hear Alcuin Reid speak and the conference is in the Detroit, MI. area.

Looking Again at the Liturgical Reform:

The Implementation of Sacrosanctum concilium

Pentecost Sunday, 4 June 2006

Dr Alcuin Reid is a London-based liturgical scholar who made a major contribution to research on Catholic Liturgy with his recent book The Organic Development of the Liturgy. In this study, he expounds and evaluates the course of liturgical reform in the twentieth century to the eve of the Second Vatican Council.

At this one-day conference, Dr Reid will unveil the results of his research on liturgical reform after the Second Vatican Council. In particular, he will address two questions:

How Do the Fathers of the Second Vatican Council Assess the Liturgical Reform?

Sacrosanctum concilium and the Ordo Missae: What Did the Council Mandate?

Other features of the conference include:

Mass of the Solemnity of Pentecost on site at the beautiful St. John’s Chapel

Chanted Morning and Evening Prayer

Luncheon and refreshments

Optional banquet dinner with Dr Reid
