Sacred Music Composer Featured on EWTN Live Tonight

This was sent to us this evening by Jeffrey Ostrowski of Corpus Christi Watershed:

Distinguished Sacred music composer Kevin Allen will appear tonight on EWTN with Fr. Mitch Pacwa. Many NLM readers are doubtless aware of Maestro Allen's work in the area of Sacred music, but here are two recent projects that have come to my attention.

Firstly, a DVD/CD recording has been made available of a Festival Concert of Marian Choral and Organ Music (6 may 2011, St. Louis Abbey Church). All of the music (except for the plainsong) was composed by Maestro Allen, who also conducted the concert. The singing is of the highest quality, and I encourage you to visit ccwatershed.org/kevinallen for details.

Secondly, yesterday saw the release of a highly-anticipated collection of twelve Latin motets by Allen. These motets will be welcomed by the "average" Church choir, since they are not difficult, although beautiful. Hear an Audio Excerpt of Cantiones Sacrae Simplices

The texts are taken from Offertories and Communions (Graduale Romanum) and have optional Psalm tones in Latin and English, showing a strong continuity with the honored traditions of our Roman Rite. Those interested can visit: ccwatershed.org/SATB/
