The Other Modern: Koloman Moser

Another quick dip into the world of the Other Modern. Koloman Moser was one of the most talented artists and designers of the overlapping Viennese Sezession and Jugendstil movements, and his stained glass and furnishing designs for the stupendous Otto Wagner-designed chapel at the insane asylum of Steinhof truly make the interior. Unfortunately, and perhaps ironically, he left Catholicism during his time at work there. That being said, he remains one of the decorative geniuses of the era. Shown above is a rendering he did of an interior treatment for the church of the Holy Ghost in Düsseldorf, done in 1907.
