New Superior General of the Servi Jesu et Mariæ

After the passing of its founder, Fr Andreas Hönisch, the Chapter General of the Congregation of the Servi Jesu et Mariæ (which celebrates both the usus antiquior and the Ordinary Form in a reform of the reform spirit, like the Canons Regular of St John Cantius) currently being held at Blindenmarkt (Lower Austria) - the main seat of the congregation - has elected Fr Anton Bentlage SJM, until now Vicar General, as new Superior General of the Servi Jesu et Mariæ. The election has received the canonical confirmation of the Holy See.

From the press release (NLM translation):

Fr Anton Bentlage SJM was born on April 1st, 1963, in Augsburg (Bavaria). He belongs to the founding generation of the still young Congregation and worked, especially in recent years as Vicar General, closely together with Fr Andreas Hönisch SJM in the direction of the Congregation. By virtue of this office, the Order was already led provisionally by him in the last months. The community has now confirmed him in this work and elected him as the new Superior General.

The Community of the Servi Jesu et Mariæ was founded in 1988 by Fr Andreas Hönisch and recognized in 1994 by the Holy See as Congregation of Ponitifical Right. It currently counts about 50 members, of which 30 priests.
