St. Gabriel's, Stamford, Connecticut

Father Cyprian La Pastina of Saint Gabriel Church in Stamford, Connecticut wish to share the news that "on Saturday, May 9th, Bishop Lori of Bridgeport ordained two transitional deacons at St. Gabriel Church in Stamford. The first time an ordination has be celebrated in our church." The NLM has featured this particular reform of the reform parish a few times before, particularly its frequent celebration of sung Sunday Vespers.

Fr. La Pastina tells us that "the choir was from St. Mary Church in Norwalk, under the direction of David Hughes. The choir sang Monteverdi's Mass for four voices, the Gregorian propers for the Fifth Sunday of Easter (Ordination took place at the parish Vigil Mass) and motet Christus Resugens by Richafort."

The Mass was celebrated versus populum but with the Benedictine arrangement used.

A few photos from the rite of ordination itself.

It is worth noting that it is always a point of importance -- as well as encouragement -- when our bishops, seminarians and young clerics are brought into environments which are actively pursuing "the liturgical reform of Benedict XVI".

One might hope that through gradual exposure, the net which it casts may grow wider and wider.
