Renovation, Holy Family Catholic Church, Vancouver

Speaking of altars, this is quite wonderful. We were recently sent some photos of a very deft, simple renovation of the altar and sanctuary at the FSSP parish in Vancouver. It really shows what a little bit of color and some strategic furniture moves can achieve. The new painting is particularly fine, and is nicely framed by the wood paneling. I would suggest some slightly more attenuated and more Gothic angels to replace the new sculpture on either side, but then, I am perhaps a bit on the picky side.

For comparative purposes, you can see the "before" shot below. While quite good in and of itself, it lacks the strong focus the painting of the Holy Family brings to the reredos and the wooden crucifix blends a bit into the background.
