Pope names Bishop Salvatore Cordileone as Bishop of Oakland, California.

This just in from NLM readers and Whispers in the Loggia:

...the Pope has named Auxiliary Bishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Diego as bishop of Oakland.

Many NLM readers will know Bishop Cordileone as a bishop who has been very supportive of the usus antiquior.

No doubt, by extension, we can also be fairly assured of his being friendly toward the liturgical aims of Pope Benedict XVI generally, including as regard the modern Roman liturgy.
