The Cosmati Pavement at Westminster Abbey

Stratford Caldecott posted a piece about the striking image of Pope Benedict XVI sitting in Westminster Abbey on the Cosmati pavement, here. He includes link through to a short BBC TV feature on the current restoration of the pavement. It describes the history of the floor, a brief account of the cosmic symbolism and gives wonderful views of the floor so rarely seen (most of the time it is covered in order to protect it).
