Holy Thursday 2021 Photopost (Part 1)

Time to begin moving the mountain of photopost submissions for the Sacred Triduum! There will be at least one more of Holy Thursday, before we move on to the others, so we are still glad to receive more; send them to photopost@newliturgicalmovement.org, and remember to include the name and location of the church. We thank everyone for their contributions, and wish all our readers a most joyful Easter week. Evangelize through beauty!

Tradition will always be for the young.
The Stripping of the Altar.
Santa Maria della Consolazione - Milan, Italy (Ambrosian Rite)
The liturgical color for the entire Triduum except the Palm Sunday procession is red.
Here we see the traditional manner of using the Ambrosian coverless thurible, which is swung in circles over the objects on the altar...
and in rather higher circles in front of the altar cross (the same is done with the persons attending in choir.)
There is no Lavabo at the Offertory; instead, the priest washes his fingers, saying nothing, right before the consecration.
At the appropriate points, the chasuble is lifted very high, parallel to the floor.
Nossa Senhora do Pilar – São João Del Rei, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Oratory of St Jean-Théophane Vénard – Saigon, Vietnam (FSSP)
