An Update Regarding St. Paul's University Catholic Center, Madison, Wisconsin

The last month has been a busy one for Matthew Alderman Studios. I have wrapped up shop drawings for an ambo and tester for a church interior renovation, produced more than a dozen studies for a series of illustrations, finished a parish logo design, began sketches for two coats of arms, designed CD art and packaging, and also continued a very enjoyable and fruitful collaboration with RDG Planning and Design, the architect of record for St. Paul's in Madison. While we do not have any new promotional drawings to share presently, I was pleased to see that Fr. Sternberg, the head of the Student Center, and Msgr. Holmes from the Cathedral will be having an information meeting on the proposed building later this week. St. Paul's was the birthplace, over a century ago, of the Newman Center movement in the United States, and it looks like it will have an equally pivotal role in defining the spiritual lives of Catholic students in the new century.
Presentation about the vision and plans for St. Paul Catholic Center & Residential College: Thursday February 10, 2011 @ 6:00-6:45pm at Edgewood College

In recent months, Madison-area Catholics have heard of the new changes planned for St. Paul University Catholic Center on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus.

The proposed building project and program will have an important and lasting impact on many future generations of Catholic leaders in our city and state.

St. Paul’s invites and strongly encourages all Madison-area Catholics to attend an informational presentation, at which the community will hear the full vision and plans for the new St. Paul Catholic Center & Residential College.

As the campus ministry has grown and affected thousands of Catholic students and families, new areas of growth and development have occurred. Hear about the current campus ministry and the need for an expanded and upgraded physical space, as well as an exciting new program launching in summer 2011 in partnership with Edgewood College!

The presentation will be held on Thursday February 10th at Edgewood College in the Anderson Auditorium. Doors will open at 5:30, with light refreshments served.

The 45-minute presentation begins at 6:00pm and will be given by Msgr. Kevin Holmes of the Cathedral Parish and Fr. Eric Sternberg, Director of Student Ministries at St. Paul’s.

This meeting will be entirely informational and no fundraising will be discussed. St. Paul’s wants to simply share its mission to the young adults at UW-Madison who have great influence on campus and on local communities after graduation.

We look forward to your attendance!
I will not be able to attend, but I encourage local Catholics to come and show their support for a project that will be an important force in reshaping and enlivening the faith of generations of university students to come.
