New Sacred Music Resource

MOTECTA TRIUM VOCUM • Kevin Allen & Matthew J. Curtis from Corpus Christi Watershed on Vimeo.

Corpus Christi Watershed has undertaken a brand new project aimed at teaching Catholic singers gorgeous-yet-easy polyphony by a contemporary, Catholic composer.

World-renowned composer Kevin Allen has set twelve Eucharistic Motets for three voices. Although the pieces were designed for SSA or TTB choirs, they also work well for mixed choirs. A special transposition table has been included for the ease of the choirmaster. The texts of these Motets are appropriate at all times of the Liturgical year, so the pieces can be sung again and again. The special performance edition avoids all page turns, and includes Psalm Tone texts in Latin and English which match the mode and range of the piece (even when sung by mixed choirs), allowing these pieces to made as long or short as the Liturgical action requires.
