Book Notice: Liturgical Reflections of a Papal Master of Ceremonies (Liturgical Conferences of Msgr. Guido Marini)

Many of you will recall that Msgr. Guido Marini, the papal master of ceremonies, gave a number of short conferences on various liturgical topics which appeared in Italian on the Vatican website. Some of these appeared in full or partial translations here on the NLM and elsewhere.

There is good news for those who would like to read these reflections in their entirety, and further, have them available in a traditional print format. These same conferences have now been translated by Fr. Nicholas L. Gregoris and published by Newman House Press as Liturgical Reflections of a Papal Master of Ceremonies.

The book is 111 pages in length and includes Msgr. Marini's short conferences on the following topics:

Holy Communion received on the Tongue and while Kneeling
The Pallium
The Staff
The Crucifix at the Centre of the Altar
Chanting of the Gospel in Greek in certain Papal Celebrations
Periods of Silence within the Eucharistic Celebration
The Latin Language
Beauty in Every Aspect of the Liturgical Rite
The Dalmatic and Cardinal Deacons

It further includes an address given by Msgr. Marini in September 2010, "Entering the Liturgical Mysteries through the Rites and Prayers."

The book is available from Newman House Press for $10.00 USD plus shipping. It may be ordered by cheque, money order and -- conveniently -- by Paypal.
