Collection of Benedict XVI's Writings to begin with his Liturgical Writings

News tip from a reader in Germany:

The Bishop of Regensburg, H. E. Prof. Dr. Gerhard Ludwig Müller is the editor of a new edition of the "Complete Works" of Pope Benedict. This series will begin in early 2008 with the The Spirit of the Liturgy, with the other volumes to follow in quick succession.

[NLM: Do note this paragraph.] The edition begins, as wished by the Pope, with contributions on the Liturgy, since this the liturgy "is characteristic for my thinking", wrote Pope Benedict in a letter to Bishop Gerhard Ludwig.

To execute this, Bishop Müller has erected the Pope Benendict Institute in Regensburg, which under the direction of Prof. Dr. Rudolf Vorderholzer is going to support the work of the editor. Dr. Vorderholzer is professor of Dogmatics at the Theological Faculty of Trier and is regarded as one of the best experts for the theology of Pope Benedict XVI. The institute has its seat at the diocesan seminary.

"I am happy to enable a worldwide public to have access to the complete works of one of the most important theologians on the See of Peter", said the Bishop of Regensburg.

Regensburg is the home of the Institutum Liturgicum Ratisbonense founded by Msgr. Klaus Gamber.
