Missa Cantata in a Medieval Church in Finland

On Wednesday of last week, the feast of St Catherine of Alexandria, the Catholic community in Karis (Karjaa), Finland (about 48 miles west of Helsinki), celebrated a Missa cantata in the traditional rite on the patronal feast day of a local church dedicated to her; it was originally built in 1470, and retains many of its medieval decorations. It has been a long time since we’ve shown anything from Finland, and so we are happy to share Mr Thế Anh’s pictures of the Mass, which was celebrated by Fr Anders Hamberg, and sung by the Schola Verbi Dei Sono from Helsinki, led by Markus Makelä, with the participation of the Schola Gregoriana Aboensis from Turku. Feliciter!
