Dominican Rite Announcements

Two brief announcements on Dominican Rite Liturgy. First, through the kindness of Fr. Paul J. Keller, O.P., and of Fr. Pius Pietrzyk, O.P., we have now added a new booklet on the Dominican Rite to our left sidebar at Domincan Liturgy under the heading "Dominican Rite Texts--Downloadable." It is a scan of Rubrical Pamphlet Series of the Dominican Rite, #1 (Washington D.C: Immaculate Conception Priory, 1907), a production of the Province of St. Joseph, which mostly concerns postures and choir rubrics. Those who would like information on the traditional types of bows, the venia, prostration on the forms, capuce practices, etc., in the Dominican Rite now have a new resource in English.

The second announcement is that at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, in the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapel of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Charlottesville VA, the parish Gregorian Chant Schola will sing a Requiem Mass in Dominican Chant. The celebrant of this Missa Cantata will be Fr. Augustine Thompson, O.P. The Libera according the Dominican Rite will also be celebrated following the Mass. The intention will be for the repose of the souls of members of the schola who have died recently, as well as deceased spouses and parents of schola members.
