New Schola to Form in Philadelphia

On Monday, I met with a colleague to discuss the possibility of forming a schola here in Philadelphia that will focus on chant and Renaissance polyphony, as well as other later repertoire which accords with that tradition.

Details will be worked out as this project progresses, but for now, here's what we've determined.

--We are inviting men and women to join us for four open rehearsals on August 22 and 29, and September 5 and 12 (all Wednesdays). The venue for these rehearsals is yet to be determined, save for the fact that it will be somewhere here in Philadelphia.

--One of the ideas we're considering at present is that we might travel from parish to parish singing, particularly on Saturdays (when more people can participate).

--All are welcome to these first four open rehearsals, after which a core group will be selected to continue as the schola. Those who have some familiarity with chant and Renaissance music will have the most potential in this situation.

A more detailed post will be published when I know more.

We would be grateful for the prayers of all NLM's readers for the success of this project.
